Yep, turns out our kitten is a pillow. She doesn't really play catch with toys. She doesn't really hunt. She definitely doesn't fight.
Mei does four things:
- Sleep
- Eat
- Use the Restroom
- Cuddle
Cuddle: Mei loves cuddles. Whenever we sit on the couch, computer desk, kitchen table, bed, she will immediately follow and jump onto our laps. Yes, it's precious, but it also really gets in the way of our work if working remotely. Have you ever had a fluffy cat butt in the center of your screen while speaking at a work meeting? It's cute, but a little embarrassing.
After a while, I realized that she was needy. Super needy. This neediness is adorable, and has continued since she was a small kitten. But I'm not sure it's for the best.
You see, she has a lot of anxiety. Unfortunately, I think it's from her lack of play with other cats or animals. As a kitten she was too scared to go outside and just remained indoors for her entire life. After our first cat passed away, she has been alone for the majority of the time.
But cats need play. It's extremely important for their mental and physical health. Cats are naturally born to hunt. They are born for adventure - fighting and loving. But our little one has stayed inside for so long that she is afraid of absolutely everything.
She is scared of the new curtains, the new litter box, the Roomba, new toys, etc. The curtains were the funniest actually. Just imagine a cat with giant, saucer eyes - petrified while staring up at long dark green curtains. She would try to sneak around them for days.
She loves clothes too. Does your cat? She loves warm clothes fresh out of the dryer.
