Our little princess Mei (pronounced "May"). 🤍💐This photo was taken when she was a kitten. When she first arrived on our doorstep during Thanksgiving, we named her after the Mayflower ship that transported pilgrims to the New World. After some thought into the English history, we destroyed that idea right away. We changed it from "May" to "Mei". "Mei" means beautiful in Chinese: 美丽 .

Awhile ago, Mei arrived on my boyfriend's doorstep when he lived with his past roommate. His roommate's girlfriend at the time, a loud, outgoing sorority girl, decided to just bring the kitten over. I remember her asking fanatically if my boyfriend and his roommate wanted another cat. They always said "absolutely NO". They already had an elderly cat with missing teeth and a small deformity that they took in. They had their hands full, but apparently no one wanted this last kitten from the litter at her sorority.
🤍 Fast forward a week, and the girlfriend just brought the kitten over and dumped her there. And there she was - a long-haired, green-eyed flop with beautiful warrior markings and no name.
